The civic exam tests your knowledge of the values, history and institutions of the French Republic. It is now required to apply for naturalization (the « naturalization » mention), as well as for the resident card and the multi-year residence permit. It is a multiple-choice test — no trick questions, but a precise syllabus to master.
The 40 questions are spread across five themes. Knowing the breakdown helps you prioritise your revision:
Work theme by theme with a clear explanation for every answer — you understand, you don’t just memorise.
Reproduce real exam conditions to manage time and nerves on the day.
Beyond the QCM, practise the interview with our AI-powered voice simulator — something free resources don’t offer.
